SAFETY

Safety First

Burns Construction Company, Paving the way since 1957, serving Connecticut and Westchester County, provides commercial and residential sitework, paving, underground piping, sand and gravel, and construction materials.
At Burns Construction, we believe that the prevention of accidents is not only our obligation but and good business as well. Our safety efforts are based on our belief that every working person is entitled to a safe and healthful place to work. The responsibility for the health and safety of our employees goes far beyond simple compliance with the federal and state regulatory requirements. We recognize that the protection of our employees, property, the public and the environment are essential to the efficient and successful completion of every construction project we undertake.

We know that our accident prevention efforts must have the same value as quality, morale, cost, schedule, and production. Safety is not something we do in addition to the work. It’s how we do the work.

At Burns, we recognize that accidents should be unusual events and that most of them are preventable.

As an aggregate producer, asphalt supplier and heavy highway construction company, we understand the critical impact that safety has on our industry. We are committed to a culture that promotes our employees as our most valuable resource. The safety and health of our employees, the public, and the environment is on the forefront of everything that we do. Safety is at the top of the list when it comes to Burns’ core business values. Our motto is and always will be “Safety First”.

Our safety department administers and oversees our Incident Prevention Program by empowering every individual Burns employee to take action. We take care in insuring that our construction sites, aggregate operations, and our sand and gravel division remain in compliance with company standards as well as all applicable agencies standards. At the same time, these individuals are considering the needs of their surrounding communities. Each division has an active safety committee led by employees of the respective division. These committees are engaged daily in maintaining a safe environment for everyone.

With our goal of continuous improvement, our dedicated employees and our drive for excellence, we aim to reduce our incident rate every year. Our ultimate goal is always zero incidents.
